The Apple Pie and the Cardinal

There was once a lady of the house who loved to make apple pies.
Sitting the pie; in the window, there came a Cardinal.
Perching himself upon the tree limb, he didn't swoop down to the pie.
But smelled of the aroma and found it pleasing to him.
Low and behold a blue jay comes and pecks the pie with its beak.
The Cardinal swoops down and causes the blue jay to fly off from the pie.
Making much of this there was a lesson to be learned.
There are some who will savor the good things that are part of the world.
Then there are others who will sneak a bite of the pie without working for it.
The blue jay never came back to the window and repeated what he did.
One could say he repented of his wrongdoing and was better because of the lesson.
Oh, the pie was later put back from the window and served that night for something special to eat.
