You struggle against sin, But they have not killed you; Merely torment within, While thinking things through. You have forgotten much, Of the supportive words; That helps you feel the touch, Guiding through the hazards. You must pay attention, When the Lord disciplines; Do not let the tension, Overwhelm from your sins. Never give up when wrong, As the Lord corrects you; Torment will not prolong, If confession is true. The Lord disciplines all, Who He deeply does love; Accept what will befall, Punishments from above. You just need to endure, Discipline that He hands; Only fathers are sure, That fits broken commands. We have greater respect, Through discipline given; No longer to reject, Of commands from Heaven. Place yourself under God, The Father of spirits; Live to honor and laud, Doing righteous merits. For your will He will test, To cause more pain than joy; Always try to do best, To build up not destroy. Copyright © 2014 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
