Clean; but Empty
Pondering my heart, my footsteps,
do I try to cleanse my own heart?
Do I seek to use a legalized method;
to sweep the room, even the corners?
Sanitizing my way for your protection,
but the stark emptiness echoes back.
Empty of God; empty of love; empty…
the heart is now clean; but empty.
What is the purpose if there is no love?
Where is the value without God’s infilling?
Nothing but whitened darkness reflects
back to me eyes without God’s presence.
Polished up to look nice, bolstering ego;
placing myself into the role of my own god.
Without reality; without validity, without love…
the heart is now clean; but empty.
Inviting in God’s Spirit through Jesus Christ;
born again not of the flesh, fresh and pure.
Now with the God’s power within to cleanse;
through the surrender of my own ego’s ways.
The house now built on this firm foundation
is pristine and pure in action and motives.
Filled with Presence, filled with Love, filled…
the heart is now clean; but full.
