Seeing the Deer Within the SnowMy blood brother and I had ventured out to the woods. It was a cold, blustery day with the winds in a torrent. With our coats, gloves, and hat for him we were dressed for the occasion. It was a time when the deer season was open. B. J. took his rifle and bow plus arrows prepared to get a deer. My job was to scare up the deer nestled in the woods. I didn't have any trouble doing this for beyond me was a deer. B. J. shot towards the deer and missed for he was protecting me. I will remember his other times when he went out I wasn't with him. Seeing the deer; in the snow was a beautiful sight to see and one that was so invitingly wonderful. Jesus allowed this to happen for me to learn a lesson. I learned I wasn't able to ever use a weapon for anything; in killing anything that belonged to God. I now see the deer; in the snow and think how awfully pretty it is. This is the best lesson I could have learned and learn I did. (© Poeticbearlovestowrite 2014) Vote for this poem |
