CANDY TODAY

Although she's tired and in pain
She's smart enough to use her brain
To say the prayers
That her soul bares
To her God above
That's full of love.

Although she's afraid of silly things
She's willing to sing
To hum a song of happiness
If she changes her attitude
She can be blessed.

Although she's weak
An 18 year old can seek
To tell her he would do her fine
She's womankind
While he is blind
To this age
That makes her rage.

Although she's stoic
Stubborn and wants to be heroic
She can put her pride aside at times
To write the rhymes
That were her assignment
Freeing her from this confinement.

Although her world revolved
With patient problems that she solved
Today she's the client
Who has to pull her head out non-defiant
From what was before
As today knocks at the door.

Although it's counseling
She's answering
The call of all today
Somehow, somewhere, someway
To do the business of this time
Not hidden in the sublime.

The counseling she heeds
The giving line she needs
The MRI of her shoulder
Doesn't leave her mind much older
Than it was decades ago
Candy today get up and go...

...On with your life.
