Yoga With Mom
Unique is the experience leading my Mom into yoga,
with her limited mobility and intense worry habits.
The challenge is finding a way to protect her
while enriching her movement connected to breath.
Learning more and more about chair yoga, I bring it;
a solid foundation of yoga movements. Yoga with Mom.
She responded strongly to this union of body and breath;
still bound to a walker, we stretch her limits seeing possibility.
“I just seem to melt, the tension disappears” she told me;
as she connects to the verbal cues I give with ease and trust.
Moving from asana to asana with breath leading the way;
we are on the road to recovery and discovery. Yoga with Mom.
Movement to the edge of mobility while feeling safe with me,
she is open to this new world of exploration of her inner space.
Three weeks shy of 83, she is now on the path of a yogini;
with a new attitude of joy in the midst of troubles and disease.
I have spent thousands of hours on my mat learning this yogic way;
teaching hundreds of classes, but this is awesome! Yoga with Mom.
