He Smiled at Me

He Smiled at Me April 27, 2014

He smiled at me when he was free
Goodbye to his struggle Ireland and me
A Belfast boy with more to come
They took away our Irish son
In the heavens he sleeps with Ireland
He died for his dream in my land
Bobby walked the path of life
A stolen land with trouble and strife
A child of Ireland running free
On Belfast streets with you and me
He must go the British said
Lock him away make sure he's dead
Kill our children wait and see
We're still alive you and me
 Ireland lives, Ireland free
 Bobby's wish was being free
 Ireland united you and me
He smiled at me when he was free
Goodbye to his struggle Ireland and me
