Old Woman of Ireland
Old Woman of Ireland December 16, 2014
Old woman of Ireland they treated you wrong
Just like the words in the song
Trouble came and your rights were denied
Many sons and daughters have died
Fourteen in Derry killed by the gun
Eight in Laughall with dirty deeds done
Drogheda blood that Cromwell sin
Ten men in the blocks where did it begin
Connolly taken and killed in a chair
Visit the spot, the cross is still there
Cork city burned by the brits to the ground
The Gibraltar three without a sound
Remember Grace, the blood on the rose
Remember the songs that everyone knows
Blood on your streets where the drums still beat
Murder and pillage but never defeat
How many children taken from life
How many bullets delivered the sting
Your struggle old woman has lasted so long
Freedom for Ireland, the soldier's song
Old woman of Ireland they treated you wrong
Just like the words in the song
