Reality of the Fantasy
The fantasy:
Hard work in the gym can turn back the
clock on my aging vessel of clay.
The reality:
I’m feeling each and every one of my 62
years today while lifting hard.
The fantasy:
Sustained effort, Pilates, and hard core
abdominal work will rip my waistline.
The reality:
Diet, and only diet, will enable me to
Trim off the excess fat.
The fantasy:
I am responsive now to life with the
explosiveness of an eighteen year old.
The reality:
I creak when I move, and now when I run
It is closer to the speed of a sloth.
The fantasy:
It is good to fight against Father Time;
pushing harder and harder against him.
The reality:
Acceptance of the reality of aging
enables me to live life fully with joy.
The reality of the fantasy speaks to my soul;
my heart beats out the desire to embrace truth.
Facts look at me like the lions looked at Daniel;
but the sustained foundation in reality enables me.
Truth is not ugly, it is simply the reality of what is;
Using the wisdom gained from my many experiences.
Still with the intense desire for an active lifestyle;
Yet fully understanding the reality of the fantasy.
