Season’s Reason

Christmas joy resounds in some hearts,

While others are filled with the blues.

Remembering those Christmas days past;

And those loved ones no longer with us.

When others are joyous and you feel sad;

While pondering the season’s reason.

Digging back into childhood memories;

To those stockings stuffed with gifts.

Feeling the emptiness and loneliness now;

As the joyous times have slipped into the past.

Take heart, my friend… for you are blessed;

Remember the reality of the season’s reason.

Innocence walked this earth for 33 years;

God with us, Emanuel… Jesus of Nazareth.

He surrendered the fullness of His rights

So that we might be blessed with reconciliation.

Born in a manger on that first Christmas night;

Born to die for each of us… this season’s reason.

Christmas season honors the birth of our Lord;

But it is also time to embrace each other in love.

Remembering those who have passed in our lives;

Remembering the joy, the gift that they were.

During the holiday blues, never forget

What is truly this season’s reason.
