Dying Flowers

Dying Flowers
I hate to see dying flowers
 I dislike the scent
 Flowers once vibrant and lovely
 No longer live
 When they begin to droop
They remind me of my spirit
 My head hangs down
 Tears flow like a river
 My wings have been broken
 I no longer soar
I used to sing and tweet like a bird
 Stars don't sparkle as bright
 Nights are far too long
 The sun no longer shines
 Dying flowers
 Make me sad
 I don't want them anymore.

©December 26, 2014 Janet Irene Griffin

I wrote this poem displaying my emotions on the sudden passing of my dear beloved husband, November 28, 2014. I was given so many beautiful flowers to help uplift my spirit, yet in time they were all dying.
