 Elsie`s Poetry

I WASN`T LOOKING

I WASN`T LOOKING

Sitting on the beach all alone
Watching the waves rolling in,
Burying my bare feet in the sand
The gentle breeze blowing my hair.

A few white wispy clouds in the sky
But the sun shines ever so bright,
A seagull glides gracefully over head
Casting a shadow as he goes.

The smell of the ocean fills my senses
As I listen to the relentless sea,
At one with myself and quite content
Happily I could sit here all day.

Closing my eyes I lay back on the sand
Feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin,
Lost in my thoughts I am far away
Sweet day dreams filling my head.

A million miles away in a reverie
Suddenly the heat of the sun has gone,
Opening my eyes I just see a shadow
I rub my eyes and blink a few times.

As you moved the sun was in my eyes
Although your face I couldn`t see
I heard your hypnotic voice say `hi`
Am I dreaming or am I awake?.

You stooped down as I sat up
Our eyes met and I just melted,
Your hand brushed my arm
Your touch was like an electric shock.

I had a fluttering in my chest
And my heart raced ever so fast,
Could this be love at first sight I wondered?
Had love found me when I wasn`t looking.
