My newly engaged said,
"You lied to me you are still smoking."
That's when I discovered the magic glass jar
Every time I weakened to buy a package of cigarettes
I put coins in the glass jar
The jar was filling with coins
I donated my time to volunteer kids sports
One of my best players came up after practice
"Coach I have to quit baseball."
"You love the game why would you quit?"
"It was all Mom could do to pay the entrance fee."
The kid did not have a baseball mitt
I looked on my shelf the jar was nearly full
We had extra mitts, bats, balls, and all kids played
Was I addicted to smoking, probably, not as much as kids sports
I no longer think about cigarettes
The jar still sits on my desk half full today
The penny found on the ground goes in the glass bowl
There is a special savings account for fun things
Recently we returned from a trip to Africa
Bought at a sports auction for kids sports
The glass jar has been depleted somewhat
I have named my glass jar, "Lucky Strikes"
