Prison
The dragon writhes and roars within;
Reaching into every fiber of my being.
I slam shut the heavy cage door;
Locking him deep in this dark prison.
The beast becomes vile while incarcerated;
Waiting for the slightest moment of weakness.
His razor sharp talon reaches out to grab
The unsuspecting bystander by the throat!
“Fred seemed so gentle, so kind,” they say;
“Where did this evil come from?”
Growing in the dark, moist confines within;
Lurking for the opportunity to escape his prison.
Years of this war has been fought without victory;
Failure awaits when things appear calm.
Patiently, the dragon pumps iron, getting stronger;
Then he shatters my stoic facade of peace.
One day, love streamed in into this darkness;
Revelation came, I made peace with this creature.
Soothing his demeanor with compassion;
Freedom came for both of us, as I open this prison.
The dragon is now gentle, creative, passionate;
He adds to my personality with his alliance.
Becoming whole, not denying this part of me;
Victory comes in the destruction of the particians.
