MY MORNING BREAK

This morning I am sitting in the swing under our crabapple tree
The summer wind is blowing soft against my skin

Dakota - Our big black Australian heeler
is laying at my feet napping in the sun's light

Across  the yard on a plum tree
three bird houses hang swaying in the breeze

Busy mother birds fly back and forth carrying worms
to their small fledgelings open mouths

I close my eyes thinking of all the things
I have to do on this busy day

The sun warms my toes as bees hum in the grass
What is the different if I take another minute or two out here

Softly the wind whispers  in my ear
"God is here"  

I lift my eyes to His bright blue sky
I feel His glory all about

Not  a cloud can be seen by my eyes
This day in July is cool and peaceful

I close my eyes and tell my Saviour  
how very much I love Him

This is a good day to be alive
Taking my morning break with my God

Dakota opens his soft brown eyes
He gives me a happy smile - he too knows God is nearby

***Our dog Dakota went to dog heaven last night
Our hearts are breaking
He was a sweet and faithful friend
Our home has another empty place in it

RIP our dear Dakota
