Switch of Faith

I was thinking about faith and what it means to me
Where I am in faith now and where I want to be
I rehearse my day from the time I begin
And tried to find a place to fit my faith in
When I begin my day in the early morning
With no hesitation I go right into yawning
Then again without thought I stand to my feet
Raise my hands to my eyes and rub away the sleep
I go the brush my teeth, I hit the light switch
And as the light popped on, suddenly I got it
It never crossed my mind if my legs would hold
I didn’t have to think brave, didn’t have to think bold
When I hit the light switch I had no doubt
I never even wondered if the bulb was out
When I jump into my car and turned the key
Will it start or not start never dawned on me
That is the faith that I need to live by
Nothing to conjure up, nothing to try
As constant as the water flowing down stream
The substance of things hoped for, evidence of the unseen
To believe not on what my eyes can see
But believe in the promise God has given me
The switch of faith activates the power to be effective
Big battles, small, battles; no need to be selective
The victory is mine, His promises are true
Because of that I will accomplish all I need to
Not by my wisdom, or strength of my hand
But by the foundation on which my faith stands
He was faithful last time and the time before
No need to doubt he would be faithful once more
My eyes will see the situations rising tall
But my faith will see me safely through it all
All I need to be concerned about
Is learning God’s word and living it out
