Trust Is An Extinct Animal

what kind of negativity is this:

here comes the rain falling in again
slanting down on me
like some grey sorrow of a hangdog tomorrows expectation
the pelting rain of regrets and constant ramifications
the soaking rain of laments and prickling resentments

whatever happened to that fine release of pain
that came with the rain
and the solace afterwards
and the quenching
and the grace
of the spirit

now all I hear is the moaning
and the kvetching
and the eye-balling accusations
and I don't want to be
anywhere near it

I pray for the noise of
thunder and lightning to drown them out
but it doesn't do that here often

all this rain is surely going to
bring me to an earlier grave and
drag me down in the bootstrap mire
to some pauper's kind of coffin

(trust is an extinct animal)

trust is an endangered species
