Edges

Surely, beyond the straight and narrow way,
the limits, boundaries and edges loom
Tho' try as I might to keep far away,
amid uphill curves, is impending doom
Toward the center I stray, without a doubt
to better navigate the slippery snare,
until blinded by the descending lout,
who considers me, soon, as his game fare
Quickly to swerve to the edges hated,
consciously defeated, with fear gripping
No time for this decision debated,
methodical plot, no room for slipping
Dear edges I will not your victim be
O' dear edges, please, once again spare me
