 Sir Ricky's Inspirational Poetry Corner

poetryofadove

Five times they had me beaten,
Suffered thirtynine lashes;
Felt like my flesh was eaten,
Leaving many deep gashes.

Three times was beaten with rods,
And tried to stone me to death;
In trying to please their gods,
For taking my dying breath.

And three times I was shipwrecked,
As I drifted on the sea;
Was causing me to reflect,
What my life turned out to be.

For I have journeyed a lot,
Faced dangers in many ways;
My enemies that did plot,
Like the tigers stalking preys.

The dangers in the city,
Robbers hiding in the dark;
And harlots looking pretty,
Lure to sexually embark.

In the country on the sea,
Believers were false friends;
That continued sinfully,
In saying things that offends.

I had to work very hard,
And gone often without sleep;
So I could remain on guard,
Like the shepherd watching sheep.

So much I hunger and thirst,
Without having proper clothes;
But this has not been the worst,
For I do what God has chose.

Daily pressures as I search,
The true direction we go;
For some that mislead the church,
Are confused on what they know.

For when anyone is weak,
Then I will be weak as well;
And into the Lord I seek,
The Spirit within to dwell.
