Hello  February Crocuses

their amber golden and pale violet heads
are poking up earlier
in the cool late winter rain
this year

perhaps its
or a miscue of sorts
some effort to get a jump
ahead on the season

I don't know how
Mother Nature makes her plans
sews her ideas or seeds
She's a natural
does things in her own time

these flowers are on their
own schedule
so if these delicate
crocuses are early
it might be my time table
that is off

it is good to be grateful for their
unexpected arrival

it means
the robins' sweet song
the tulips popping up
the lilacs lingering perfume
the flowering fruits trees
will not be far off
and an abundance of warm zephyrs
wrapping their arms around me

and soon I shall go bare-armed
walking again

so I am happy
and I tell them so

Hello February Crocuses!
