An Unopened Book

Standing In The Storm

I see you standing so alone, there deep within the storm.
A stained emotion of heartache placed there on your face.
You have your arms wrapped tight to keep yourself warm.
Seems that your hopes and secret dreams were misplaced.
I startled you as I came, opened umbrella to stand by your side.
A quick turn of your face, hoping hiding the tears that you cry.
Trying hard to pretend; to save face, trying to keep some pride.
But I tell you I'm here to help, not really knowing exactly why.
How can one with such kindeness have tears to match the rain.
One with such love in your heart holding fast in the fierce wind.
To believe in your soul that no one could possibly ease your pain.
Someone to hold your cross that you now bare, to let healing begin.
Someone who would stand here beside you shivering out in the cold.
You have already accepted the loss, one you thought you'd win.
I could see the rain clouds parting in the horizon seems it won't last.
With an arm carefully placed around You, maybe you'll understand.
Sometimes people show love even when they are never really asked.
Someone will come out to you to protect you from the pouring rain.
A friend who keeps watch ready and willing to come stand beside you.
Without saying one single word; lightens your load, eases your pain.
A friend who will come running an umbrella placed in their hand.
Will stand wait out help you weather the storm you find yourself in.
When it happends you'll be glad someone is there who understands.
