Keeper Of The Flame

 Smoke And Mirrors

Once intact, bits and pieces
All tattered and torn
The debris slowly increases
Blowing down the back roads
Shiny tinsel thought-dreams
From the day I was born....

Things that once mattered
Now impossible to recall
By whirlwind scattered
Caught up in the wind
Now dim in the distance
Once chiseled into the wall....

Where did the yesterdays go,
When I could entertain caprices?
Now my thoughts ebb and flow
All haziness, smoke and mirrors,
Tunnels and misty mazes
Until this old life mercifully ceases

How do I reconnect the bits and pieces?
