 once upon a time

Once

One flip of a page sends you crashing

unaware down memory lane. Perhaps

the one place you had no interest in

returning to, but that unaware flip of a

Page has sent the senses into turmoil.

caressing, holding, snuggling back into forgotten warmth.

The long ago crashing down around you whilst you

sit stroking an old worn book.Whatever happened to,

that old fashioned love lost in the pages of memory lane.

One place I swore never to return to, but here is love again.

Once and long ago I held the world, then it slipped

away never to return until, well, until the memories

crash into my mind with one flip of a page.

I'm only ever one step away from loves gentle

touch, that singular moment of holding loves

sweet promise in my arms only to let it slip away

as I, wetting my finger on my lip I flip a page
