Simple Things
I thought about those simple things
So long a part of me
That flood my mind with memories
Of how life used to be.
A picture of my Mom and Dad
My worn-out baseball glove
Some vintage albums from the past
A genre I still love.
What's left of my old hot rod car
Now parked up in the shed
A collar once worn by a dog
My faithful hound named Red.
My Daddy's tattered Bible
Patched up with tape and glue
A few choice family photographs
And my Springfield twenty-two.
It's funny how those simple things
Did take me back in time
To good old days so long ago
When life turned on a dime.
So long a part of me
That flood my mind with memories
Of how life used to be.
A picture of my Mom and Dad
My worn-out baseball glove
Some vintage albums from the past
A genre I still love.
What's left of my old hot rod car
Now parked up in the shed
A collar once worn by a dog
My faithful hound named Red.
My Daddy's tattered Bible
Patched up with tape and glue
A few choice family photographs
And my Springfield twenty-two.
It's funny how those simple things
Did take me back in time
To good old days so long ago
When life turned on a dime.
