Beyond the Pale

Your ego is beyond the pale
And oft gets in the way
When you refuse to tolerate
What others do or say.

You're quick in pointing out to them
Their smallest minute faults
And those who disagree must bear
The brunt of your assaults.

I'm sure you think that I am wrong
For your self-regard is great
But pride unbridled, can become
A most disgusting trait.

So, in spite of all your vanity
I will try to pay just due
But you lost me when I finally saw
The artificial you.

Yes, your ego is beyond the pale
And oft gets in the way
When you refuse to tolerate
What others do or say.
