The Life

Jesus says I am the life; there is no other life than Me
Many will try a different life but they’ll soon come to see
Not just the life until the judgment seat, all roads lead there
But will you enter into His rest or just stand and stare
Many live the luxurious life; riches, fortune, and fame
Many live the carefree life; it’s just one big game
Some live the modest life; normal and mundane
Some live the poverty life; homeless in the rain
Whatever the life and style you represent
Chances are it is not the life Jesus meant
He speaks of fruit connected to the vine
Nourished by eternal water existing before time
He speaks of a purpose for all eternity
Designed and orchestrated before we came to be
Life more than a beating heart pumping blood flow
Life more than lungs pumping air though the nose
Living for more than existing until the last breath
But living to live again, victorious over death
Some search for the fountain of youth hidden in a cream
Others search the universe for life’s true meaning
There are those who seek the company of a friend
While others depend on narcotics to bring pain to an end
Jesus says I am the life, the answer for today
Why search for other things, I am the only way
I am the life, the true life you were created for
The water and the bread that fills forever more
It’s not inside a bottle, it’s not held in a bank
It’s not read in a self-help book or military think thank
Life is not in popularity or in the praise of man
You can’t live through a sport franchise or music band
True life is love walked out in faith in the life you cannot see
The life that gave His life on the cross to set us free
Jesus says I am the life; there is no other than Me
Many will try a different life but they’ll soon come to see
