Storms of Life

The doctor firmly recommends
They terminate the pregnancy.
But as born again believers
They know they cannot agree.

A child with special needs was not
 What they'd hoped to conceive...
But God was still a good God
And this baby they'd receive.

 Although there might be hardships...
And they'd have to sacrifice...
They knew this gift would bless them
Even through each storm of life.

Coming from a broken home
The young man could have gone astray
He didn't have a father
To teach or show him the way

His friends had turned to drugs...
But he, a non peer pressured teen,
Wanted a  much better future
So he was not part of their scene.

Several in the neighborhood
Had perished by the knife.
He knew that God protected him
Through all these storms of life.

Her body bore the bruises...
She'd tried so hard to stay.
She'd forgiven him too many times...
She'd never failed to pray.

But this was no way to raise children...
They'd witnessed far too much abuse.
She was so afraid they might get hurt
Each time he blew a fuse.

She prayed he wouldn't find them...
But she could not remain his wife.
She trusted God would hide them from
This raging storm of life.

He reached down into the coffin
To touch her face just one more time.
Death felt so cold and lifeless
But her warmth flooded his mind.

She had always been there for him...
Her arms always open wide.
How could he face the world without
His mother at his side.

"But it is only for a season!"
The Words were soothing...were precise.
He felt the perfect peace of God
As he faced this storm of life.

~~Dedicated to Kathy~~

Jeremiah 29:11.
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord.
"They are plans for good and not for disaster,
to give you a future and a hope."

Proverbs 16:9
"We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps."

2 Corinthians 4:8-10
"We are pressed on every side by troubles,
but we are not crushed and broken. We are
perplexed, but we don't give up and quit. We are
hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get
knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.
Through suffering, these bodies of ours constantly
share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus
may also be seen in our bodies."

Psalm 34:17-19
"The Lord hears His people when they call to Him
for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those who
are crushed in spirit. The righteous face many troubles,
but the Lord rescues them from each and every one.
