Dear Lord
this is my unspoken prayer
where my words are etched in ink
instead of aloud,
for You know the deep seated fear within,
the battle to remain afloat and not drown,
You've become the lifesaver
clung to with every ounce of strength,
You've stood beside
as the repeated motion
of kicking proverbial baggage
to a broken curb is done,
there in moments of unhealed hurt,
and memories that haunt,
there is uncertainty of trusting,
just there,
too often the choking waters
suffocate the words,
leaving only a wave to the shore,
the fear of saying too much
and feeling the rebuke,
hearing the Jimmy Cricket voice
of 'everyone will let you down',
still in a crowded arena
Your grace found me again,
broke the wall and entered the soul,
the battles remain
but now the voice is Yours
even in fear the feeling of grace covers.
