They called him Happy
Happy Stroud
I rarely saw a frown
Upon Pap's face
For he was always smiling,
Talking, teasing, and hugging
His kindness and generosity
Had drawn people to him
His education, his wisdom
Has earned him a great deal of respect
And he was always happy,
Happy Stroud
I was his granddaughter,
His favorite one
We shared many things,
Including our interests
Of education, of words,
Of puzzles and of poetry
As well as sharing our lives
And talking about them
Our blue eyes smiled
With knowledge and understanding,
Our sense of humor
Made people laugh around us
Yet there was one big difference
In our personalities,
Making each of us
Our own individual
He was always happy,
Happy Stroud
