many sides to Rosey

For an ex,
 you were nothing
  but a big damper
   on my soul,
    all dark and heavy

The moment I finally
 released you,
  I was literally reborn
   and life was finally
    beautiful once again

If only I had known...

I would have let
 you go just as easily
  as a plane taking off
   into a sunny sky
    toward paradise

Yet we struggled
 with horrible car crashes
  the ugly, mangled metals
   the spectators, and especially
    the injuries, some permanent

If only I had known...

How beautiful life can be
how blue the sky can get
how bright the sun really is
   how green the grasses are
and how light my soul can feel

Without you
 choking and dragging me down,
  darkening my world, and
   closing me in until
    I lost life, especially myself

If only I had known...

I would have freed myself
 from all this misery
  arising from what we thought
   was love
    If only I had known...
