I love the Lord my God,
He is my strength and shield;
For I honor and laud,
Unto Him I will yield.
For the Lord is my Rock,
My fortress and Savior;
Together we will walk,
As He shines His favor.
I feel safe in my Rock,
I take refuge from foes;
With troubles we will talk,
For chasing out the woes.
He is my shield and strength,
When danger does unfold;
To persevere the length,
In being my stronghold.
Our Lord should be praised,
And helps me with each breath;
When confused and am dazed,
Snared by the ropes of death.
The grip of death meets me,
With the ropes of the grave;
But the Lord sets me free,
As my life He does save.
I call Him when distressed,
Crying to God for aid;
Knowing I will be blest,
And no longer afraid.
He heard my voice in church,
My cry reaches His ears;
As He concludes my search,
And wipes away my tears.
He spreads apart Heaven,
And soared on wings of wind;
For sure hope is given,
Comfort who have not sinned.
