Email Poem | Today's Poetry

 Her role one day
They too were young, sweet child endeared
Holding their own, many right here
Would come to bare children and raise
Love like no other, some short of praise

In their lifetime, they changed and fed
Countless bed wetters, some still unwed
Hold to their own as mothers do
Brood, children loved, like me and you

They went without support at times
A hug, soft kiss, a valentine
A card to say how much they mean
If just a word in their day dreams

Proud parent came to know hard knocks
They washed and dried more than our socks
As they stood by so vigilant
Beside themselves with much intent

Intent to raise, breathe better life
Into our own to soar as kites
Into a world, to so succeed
If just beyond, child theirs would need

Give thanks, embrace while they are here
To those who birthed and chased your fears
Away at nights, whose touch unlike
Calmed, cured held you, their hearts delight

They came to be but for awhile
Our place of peace, our inner child
That seeks this day to be with them
If just today when then was when

Her role one day

Happy Mothers Day to you and yours
