Poetic Verses

They Say

Of all the rumors out there
They say you are indeed
One driven by pure selfishness
Without a moral creed.

They say you have a Teflon heart
That nothing sticks to you
Like water off a duck's back
For all the bad you do.

They say you're no example
Of how adults should be
A self-absorbed thrill seeker
Footloose and fancy free.

They say you have no ethic
About the world of work
That you are quite the slothful one
Oft called a trifling jerk.

They say you're cold and callous
Toward those who love you most
Then wonder why they get upset
When you would brag or boast.

Surely, what they say of you is false
That the rumors can't be so
But if they are, why not resolve
To change and let them go?
