Shameless and Heartless

We know of the shameless and heartless
Whose honor hangs by a thread
The ones who so daringly venture out
Where most would never tread.

As for hearts, the shameless seem lacking
While the heartless show absence of shame
And though there may be a distinction
In essence, the two are the same.

But surely, they ought to know better
Than to dish out their callous abuse
With The Golden Rule so disrespected
So sadly, they have no excuse.

Yes, it seems they are twain and thus doubly kin
And there is no polarity
For the shameless among us who don't have a heart
Make honor a rarity.
