Two Hearts Beat As One
As I carry you within me,
Rocking you to sleep,
You listen to the sounds I make,
Comforted by my heart that beats.
You grow a little more each day,
I really cannot wait to feel you kick,
Each bout of heartburn is worth it,
Even, I say lightly, is feeling sick.
I recently saw you on screen,
You wriggled your little feet,
You lay your hand at your face,
As if saying "it's nice to finally meet!"
Your beating heart was flickering,
We saw your tiny nose,
We saw you lay so peacefully,
Striking a simple pose.
Daddy sat in awe of you,
And somehow it all felt real,
That moment I first set eyes on you,
Is a memory no one can steal!
Over the next few months,
As my bump begins to show,
I look forward to the day we meet,
Until then; our hearts beat as one.
