Standing Proud

Standing Proud                    June 7, 2015

Sing a song for Ireland, it won't take long
Remembering good times and what went wrong
Standing proud with the country we love
A nation once again as we rise above
The North and South, the East and West
Thirty-two counties of Irelands best
From the streets of Free Derry at William street
Fourteen civil rights marchers did not retreat
Killed for peace on an Irish street
Carrying white flags without defeat
Belfast town we remember them all
Ten men from Ireland, God bless them all
Every street in Ireland resisted the Hun
Ireland united “Our Day Has Come
Sing out loud for our country
Sing out loud for our people
Sing a song for Ireland, it won't take long
Remembering good times and what went wrong

Gerrard McGeachy
