Time has aged a man who leaned
Upon his heart of many means
A giving hand that reached out to
To more than one and then some too
It took on role to fill a void
In someone's life as if deployed
To war, to win, to right a wrong
This heart once then, felt it belonged
Belonged to one that made it skip
A beat or two when thought of lips
That pressed upon its chest above
Just right below rib cage felt love
Too young its place to stay just there
For life would change the stage and bare
Some new beginnings to an end
Of things yearned for, its need to mend
Yet in heartbreak lessons were learned
Some bridges built, some others burned
And through their wake it made its way
To stay still true with bed it made
Days turned years and nearly stone
Older but wise yet still alone
Keeps vigil still through rainy nights
To feel once more, once feelings right
