Reason to Be Glad
There's a multitude of things in life
That cause us varied pains
So much so that we sometimes think
Old Satan holds the reins.
Like the elder who gets no respect
A mind that's ruined by sheer neglect
The home divided against itself
Thieves who take till nothing's left.
A starving child who has not eaten
The shame that there are women beaten
Having those once trusted tell us lies
Or watching as a loved one dies.
These events and countless others show
A sad reality
That many things in life are not
How we wish them to be.
But there's a rainbow in the sky
For the good outweighs the bad
And the fact that God is in control
Is reason to be glad.
