In the Prose of Passion

Today is the Oldest That I've Ever Been

I remember not too long ago
When I was very young
How life was simple
And I had so much fun
I took things for granted
Like those that I love
Especially my Savior
In heaven above

I'd have many friends
A few of them true
But when they were gone
I'd find someone new
But now that I'm older
I have some regrets
If I could do over
I'd keep those true friends

Today is the oldest that I've ever been
But the youngest I'll ever be
I try to remember all that I've seen
And to cherish all that I'll see
There are no promises here in this life
Except that one day I will die
So I'll live for today; enjoy what I have
And say that “I love you” instead of “goodbye”

So now I am slower;
My hair's getting gray
My friends I have noticed
Are now the same way
But life seems much better
I've opened my eyes
I see things much brighter
I now realize

I'm going to be thankful
I now realize this
The life that God gave me
Is truly a gift
And I must remember
That life goes by fast
I'm grateful for memories
Of all the years past

Today is the oldest that I've ever been
But the youngest I'll ever be
I try to remember all that I've seen
And to cherish all that I'll see
There are no promises here in this life
Except that one day I will die
So I'll live for today; enjoy what I have
And say that “I love you” instead of “goodbye”

So live your life well; enjoy every day
Enjoy your good health each day will be great
Learn to have fun as if it's your last
Look to the future; don't dwell on your past
