 Elsie`s Poetry

IF I MUST!

IF I MUST!

Everyday things sometimes become a chore
And you don`t want to do them anymore,
But it`s never as easy as all that
You may have to learn to become a diplomat.

Sometimes what was once a joy to do
Then becomes such a burden to you,
There is no joy in it any more
It`s now done out of habit that`s for sure.

It must be done and it`s such a bind
But to this fact you are now resigned,
A way out is what you`re looking for
So you don`t have to do it anymore.

An excuse is what you`ll have to find
Tell me have you one already in mind?
If not then grit your teeth and bear it
Just carry on `cause you can`t quit.

It`s that time again it would appear
Do it then your conscience is clear,
A shut mouth is something you can trust
While your mind says I`ll do it if I must!
