NOT TOO LATE I HOPE

 NOT TOO LATE I HOPE

Honestly I did my best to keep our date
Everything was against me and I was late,
You were nowhere to be seen when I got there
Only the falling snow and the chill in the air.

I looked around but I was all alone
My heart froze and I was chilled to be bone,
The falling snow had no impact on me
It was the fact that your face I couldn`t see.

There was no signal when I tried to `phone
But this is something you couldn`t have known,
It must have seemed that I did not care
To just leave you standing waiting there.

I wish I could tell you I never stood you up
And this was nothing but a minor hiccup,
You left when you thought I wouldn`t show
Discarding the rose on the bed of snow.

I hope our love does not freeze like the rose
Then finally thaw and then decompose,
We mustn`t let obstacles get in our way
We must try again and seize the day.
