The Drumbeats Cease

The Drumbeats Cease          June 16, 2015

I met an Irish friend in a Glasgow bar last night
She wanted to go home to make things allright
Paint old Ireland orange and green
Remove all the pictures of the queen
Raise our flag above city hall
One flag in our country, for one and all
Plant little shamrocks with three leafs of green
The prettiest place you have ever seen
Belfast and Derry places of peace
The troubles gone, the drumbeats cease
Billy and Dan without the wall
The Irish nation proud and tall
Well show the world that Ireland's Green
The best little country you've ever seen
When the job is done, I'll see her again
In that bar in Glasgow with my Irish friend
I met an Irish friend in a Glasgow bar last night
She wanted to go home to make things allright
