July 4 2015

this is a story
most would rather
not have to tell

it is not my story
but it is one
that doesn't end well
it didn't have to end
so badly

its a universal truth that
loneliness alone can trouble
but usually by itself cannot
maim nor kill

yet add to the mixture
heat
agitation
desperation

shake n' stir the cocktail
you may have a lethal drink

and if you are a new
a stranger
it may

now fill in the blanks
tell me who this is

someone you know

your father
your son
your brother?
