Welcome to My Poetry Site
Our hearts combined
Our hearts combined in austere times,
It happened with a kiss,
but when it came to wedding gifts,
Out thoughts were all adrift.
We don't need pans or scales in grams,
No towels or table mats,
No chopping boards, no knives, no forks,
It's lolly that we lack.
We hope you won't be hurt by this,
Or think our motives brash,
It's just that costs went through the roof,
So we'd rather have the cash.
There's no easy way to say this,
No matter how one tries,
Your gifts would all be wonderful,
But the money twice as nice.
