 once upon a time

Impasse
All the times we seek love and happiness.
Do we ever ask why the time before seemed
Less rewarding than holding love in
your arms, as usual it seems forevermore.
But time passes and love is a cheat if not
possessed by each other. We walk away.
a cheap excuse escaping our lips lost to
another lover no different than the one before.
Our selfish needs driving us onwards, crushing
thoughts of decency into the dust of memories
We reach an impasse, vanity that's what's it all about.
Realising love and happiness was never our goal.
