If eyes are windows to the soul,
Forgive me as I close the blinds.
Seen enough dead darkpools
Battled enough broken minds.
And as those beautiful blue orbs
float away from my sight,
I transfix my gaze to the darkness above
Hoping there may come a light.
Far from comfort bleeding silent lone despair,
A shockwave of otherworldly orange burns streamers in the air.
Terror wrapped that cold orange light,
as Earthly Nature stared,
Coalescing into giant jagged discs
My soul was not prepared.
I turned my back on the evil lights,
As the treetops swayed and burned,
Sought refuge through my fighting
As frozen sat the birds.
If eyes aren't the only organ
Through which man might see;
Perhaps there's no escape
From those who look through me.
