War field By aldo kraas, www.PoetryPoem.com/poet11586 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
I looked upon her
hazel colored eyes
and as she smiles at me
I can quietly sense her silent pain
I remember seeing her tender flesh
and who's skin reminded me
of the elements of a war field
that would just constantly get beaten up
and beaten down till it finally surrender
I remember seeing her arms
which were bombarded by the
constant bombing of bruises to her skin
then her legs which were full of scratches and cuts
as if she was somehow was pierced by a bayonet
and I seeing the large gash on her throat
as if her throat violently kissed the
sharpness of a blade and I remember
her tears fall down by her side
as I hugged her, saying nothing
I knew she quietly gave up on her self
but still giving the impression that everything
was fine..... I was just holding her
that war field became a constant reminder
that I was fighting for something bigger then myself
that I was fighting for her, to keep her in the fight....
