LIFE AND FADING

As we age things once important move on. We lost a love one.
We know they have gone to Heaven. But we still
miss them. Daily knew my Mother's wings guided me. But
She and Sis have moved on. My Grand kids were so important to
me. The games watching my entertainment. I am proud that they
decided education more important than sports. I was the Nanny.
I so often preached that to the kids. But I will miss the games.
Two are now in college. Two have a boyfriend and girlfriend.
One it seems has dated every girl in school.

Grandpa no longer a big thing in their lives. I became a little
maudlin out of sorts. Last night we had a early summer end party
to see the kids off to college. Two are going back
to college. The pride of the family circle. As of now all three
picked the same college. No sibling rivalries they care for each other.
One, my youngest returned from a trip to visit his girlfriend.
Celebrate a year anniversary. A neat story the kids meet at a
study group of whales in California. Both very intelligent. They
fell in love. At sixteen will it last?

I walked into the room.Wife said, "Tell it to him in Person." Brent,
"We have been talking Grandpa. We want you to know you made us
what we are today." My heart nearly burst. I was not forgotten.
a second chimed in, "We all have great eating habits. Love veggies.
healthy foods. When we got home from school you had healthy food
for us. Learned to love carrots, broccoli. We are all athletes.
Have work ethics. There was never a time you made us work. It
was fun times. We were discussing how much you meant to us when
grandma walked in. We told her how much she meant to us."

A little maudlin, yes, but now life is not fading. I am not fading
away these kids are moving on and it is good thing.I will miss
the sports Brent is taking premed. Player of the year football,
baseball leading hitter. He realizes reality. Premed is far more
important and where he well make his living. The Kelz is working for Make
a Wish.Kids with a need. Finding them and someone to make their wish
come through. It is an unpaid job while she finished college. Ryan is
working to save endangered species. Not marching or protesting. From
the side of research. Still in high school he already has college credits.
Moving on is a good thing. The talks we had as children about doing
good things is working. My pride is not holding on to them but releasing
their talents to the world. one kid at a time./dandy
