Walkin on Air

A Houdini Moment

A scant image appears in the distance:
is it a vacant house expecting lighted lamps
to brighten dark windows and make it a home?
Chilling memories of when my battery of forgiveness
simply died and went flat: zap! That was that, no more juice.
Dusty cans of branded rage remind me tears don't mix with wrath,
like when I conjure excuses to cut the phone.
Wet and lost I am: who gives a rat's ass?
Lozenges stick to the roof of my mouth,
a dog barks notices in the distance;
I gaze into past lightevents,
where did that guiding
star vanish to?
