Our Beautiful Family--a Short Poetic History

I'm proud of the privilege of being their first-born,

Having given them joy they'd never known before;

Mama said I was the most beautiful baby she'd ever seen,

And Daddy's excitement, saying he was living a dream;

A fresh, new, inexperienced couple just starting out,

Not really knowing what marriage was all about;

They learned a lot the first year, that's for sure,

But, come what may, they were determined to endure;

They raised eight personalities over the years,

During that time the whole family shed many tears;

We were usually not unhappy or sad one must realize,

Because lots of tears of joy poured from our eyes;

The family was close-knit, always there for each other,

Siblings taught as babes to always love one another;

We learned in the harshest way what it means to be sad,

When due to a tragic, fiery accident we lost our dad;

The other kids and I were feeling all right and THEN,

We learned that Mama had gone and fallen in love again!

The whole bunch of us could have been bought for a nickle,

We did what we could to get our mom out of that pickle;

Some of us cried, some fought, we tried every single day,

It did us no good. He became our step-dad any old way;

However, I must tell the truth, I simply cannot lie,

Not only did Mama love him, but he was an OK kinda guy.

I wish I could end saying we lived happily ever after,

Our lives filled with nothing but joy and laughter;

But, honestly, everybody knows the true deal,

That story books are made up and life is REAL;

Our beautiful family has had its share of strife,

Dana is in prison probably for the rest of his life;

Michael and Andre` are both dead and gone,

The pain of their deaths always cuts to the bone;

And then there's Janet Denise, our baby sister,

I do believe her death made my heart blister.

Our beautiful mother ruined by Alzheimer's disease,

As long as she fought it she had no ease;

We watched her vibrant, lusty personality fade away,

Until we no longer understood what she tried to say;

Now here are we the living, sick and filled with pain,

It may seem that we have nothing left to gain;

But I always remember Mama's words when she could talk,

That with Jehovah, every day I should walk;

Thank him for his blessings with all my heart,

Ask him for strength to endure so I wouldn't fall apart;

Mama told me to never drift away from Jehovah,

That I should keep my faith and hope in the resurrection

To everlasting life on the paradise earth. Here the last

Enemy, death, will never raise it‘s ugly head again

According to all of Jehovah promises recorded in the Bible.

These are Bible truths Daddy and Mama taught us from

The time we were children. As I grew older I studied the

Bible and researched all the scriptures for myself. I will

be 71 years old, March 8, 2019 and I still believe these

scriptures and all the Bible prophecies with all my heart.

As time goes on, we see fulfillment of these prophecies

on a worldwide scale more and more each day.

Daniel Chapter 2; Matthew Chapter 24; 2 Timothy 3:1-5;

Revelation 21:3-5. Of course, the entire Bible is true and,

as 2 Timothy 3:16 reminds us, "all scripture is inspired

by God." It is very important that we read the Bible

EVERY day, meditate on what we read and look at how it

applies to what's going on in the world today and to our

very lives.
